Faith Formation

First Reconciliation

In cooperation with our St. Dunstan Parish School of Religion and with the Faith Formation standards of the Archdiocese of San Francisco, second grade students learn about and experience their First Reconciliation. Moreover, school wide reconciliation preparations and services are offered several times a year, usually during the Advent, Lent and Easter liturgical seasons.

First Communion

In cooperation with our St. Dunstan Parish School of Religion and with the Faith Formation standards of the Archdiocese of San Francisco, second grade students learn about and experience their First Communion. This important community celebration is held at Sunday Masses, over three successive weekends at St. Dunstan Parish, during the month of May. Older students and families wishing to receive First Communion, can do so in cooperation with the Parish School of Religion.

Confirmation

In cooperation with our St. Dunstan Parish School of Religion and with the Faith Formation standards of the Archdiocese of San Francisco, 7th and 8th grade students, over a two-year process of faith formation, learn about and experience Confirmation. Confirmation is celebrated each year in April or in early May. In addition to classroom instruction and as part of the faith formation process, students will be required to experience community service, celebrate community liturgies, and participate in day long retreat.

Altar Servers

All Catholic Students in 5th to 8th grades are welcome to be altar servers for our school and Parish Masses. Through this unique ministry, young people can share their faith with the St. Dunstan community by action and words. Students who choose to serve the parish in the capacity must attend a special training session.

Catholic Schools Week

The annual national celebration, held in late January, honors our faith and the privilege we have attending St. Dunstan School. We share our mission and pride in our high-quality, values-driven Catholic education, which we believe offers an excellent choice among school choices, for our mid-peninsula students and families, as well those in surrounding communities.

Liturgical Schedule at St. Dunstan

At our St. Dunstan Masses and prayer services we come together to celebrate and strengthen our community through the liturgy and prayer services held throughout the year. Liturgies are the foundation of our faith community at St. Dunstan. The schedule of masses and prayer services are located via our website on the school calendar link. In addition, we celebrate the Christmas season with a beautiful Advent Program held in December.

Community Service Opportunities

One of the learning outcomes for our St. Dunstan students is being a good member of the community who helps those in need. As an introduction to the social ministry of the Church, we recognize that our school is part of a wider community and we can make a difference. All students and families volunteer service hours and often make monetary donations to worthwhile projects including but not limited to: St. Vincent de Paul, local Senior Centers, the Holy Childhood Organization, Food Drives, Catholic Charities, Natural Disaster Relief, ‘Kiss the Frog’ Contest, and the Knights of Columbus Coin Drive for the Mentally Challenged, among many other activities held over the course of the school and liturgical year.
